tesa tape Introduces New Paint Masking Tapes for Two-tone Vehicle Painting
Meet tesa® 4185 and tesa® 50777!
Company officials of tesa tape, inc., an affiliate of tesa SE, are pleased to announce the addition of two new paint masking tapes designed specifically for use in vehicle painting applications.
Meet the Products
Building on years of product development experience, tesa R&D specialists have created next-generation design masking tapes for two-tone and custom design painting applications within the automotive and transportation industries. These two new products - tesa® 4185 and tesa® 50777 – were developed in response to shifting market trends resulting in increased demand for vehicles with enhanced stylization on the exterior of the vehicle, including: two-tone vehicle side-body painting, roof painting, and creative design painting.
Each of the new products is REACH compliant, and harbors distinctive characteristics which offer optimized benefits:
• tesa® 4185 – 94 microns, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) backing coated with a natural rubber adhesive
• tesa® 50777 – 132 microns, PVC backing coated with an acrylic adhesive
tesa® 4185 is the thinnest tape within tesa’s design paint masking assortment, allowing for a very sharp paint line and smooth paint separation between colors. Given its optimized components, this tape can also withstand 160 degrees Celsius oven baking temperatures during inline paint shop drying processes. tesa® 50777 is designed to withstand the same temperature and time parameters, and is distinguished by its unique acrylic adhesive system. This is ideal for applications where a natural rubber adhesive leaves residue or creates ghosting.
