Sustainability-related activities are taking place both at the company's headquarters in Norderstedt, Germany, and in its subsidiaries around the world. tesa has made sustainability a top priority and is working faster than ever before on this important transformation. Based on a scientific approach, tesa employs more than 600 scientists, engineers, and product developers worldwide who are working to establish innovative and more sustainable products and processes.

"I am pleased that our commitment to sustainability is growing stronger every year. The tesa Global Sustainability Week is a clear signal of this," said Dr. Norman Goldberg, Chairman of the Executive Board of tesa SE. "Sustainability drives our innovations and demonstrates our responsibility to future generations. We have already achieved some significant milestones, including a 38 percent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and the conversion of our site in Sparta to solvent-free production facility. Sustainability Week at tesa: A week dedicated to sustainability

Under the motto "Sustainability along the value chain," tesa is underscoring its commitment to a more sustainable future along the entire value chain and presenting important milestones and setting the course for the coming years. On a total of four action days, employees will have the opportunity to discuss current projects and learn about sustainability initiatives.

"One of the biggest challenges we face is decoupling growth from emissions. But it is also an opportunity to drive innovation with more sustainable technologies," explains Dr. Ingrid Sebald, Board Member for Technology at tesa SE. "Implementing this strategy requires changes in both production facilities and product design. With our many years of experience, our expertise in coating technology, and our close cooperation with customers, suppliers, and new partners, I am convinced that we will achieve our goals and make forward-looking progress.

Innovation and sustainable technologies: Global successes for greater sustainability

tesa has set itself ambitious sustainability goals and is investing around 300 million euros in climate-neutral production by 2030. The company is focusing on solvent-free production, efficiency improvements, and advanced technologies. For example, the tesa plant in Sparta, Michigan, was converted to a solvent-free production facility in 2023 and additional production space was added. These measures led to a 38% reduction in CO₂ emissions, which corresponds to a saving of around 1,100 metric tons of CO₂.

As part of its comprehensive sustainability efforts, tesa has also developed a targeted energy strategy that includes measures to save energy, increase energy efficiency, and use renewable energy. The goal is an efficient and cost-effective energy supply. For example, the plant in Hamburg is to be connected to the hydrogen network, which will save around 6,000 metric tons of CO₂ per year. Since 2020, tesa purchases electricity from renewable sources worldwide and focuses on generating its own power, for example through a new solar park in Offenburg, Germany. Additional solar power plants are planned or already in operation in China, Italy, Germany, and the United States.

tesa is also successful in the area of logistics: Scope 3 emissions were reduced in 2023 by more than 8,000 metric tons of CO₂ by reducing air freight.
