tesa® 6887x bio-based film tape makes electronic devices more sustainable
Technologies
The environmental footprint of electronic devices has become increasingly important in recent years as consumers have higher attention for products with sustainability concepts. Even components that make up only a relatively small part of the product can become an influential factor in the purchase decision.
At tesa, assuming social and environmental responsibility has always been part of our corporate culture, and sustainability has been an important strategic goal for several years now. We are working responsibly on this important transformation. For us, this includes both the rapid reduction of emissions, a significant improvement in the sustainability of our production, products, and packaging, and responsible procurement. By focusing on technical innovation, we will not only reduce our own environmental footprint, but also help our clients achieve their sustainability goals.
For this reason, we have expanded our range of double-sided adhesive tapes. Alongside our standard products, there are already a number of double-sided adhesive tapes with special features available. The new tesa® 6887x bio-based film tape complements this existing selection with products that can contribute to sustainability. The tapes consist of 75% bio-based carbon content acrylic adhesive and 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET content in backing. It is further equipped with 100% PCR PET content in the liner, or FSC®-certified glassine paper liner (FSC® C148769) based on the design for different thicknesses (contact us for more product designs if needed).

tesa® 6887x bio-based film tape offers a distinct competitive advantage
The tesa® 6887x bio-based film tape is characterized by a very good bonding strength even under demanding environmental conditions. This makes the assortment ideal for use in the assembly of electronic devices, for example for cushioning material lamination, component mounting, and FPC (flexible printed circuit) fixation.
To allow maximum flexibility in electronic device assembly, this assortment is transparent and available in different thicknesses. Their performance is similar to or even better than our well-known tesa® 49xx range, making them suitable for a broad range of applications in the manufacturing of electronic devices. They also can contribute to our customer’s sustainability agenda– a clear competitive advantage.
