Visiting Southeast Asia with the Federal President
Chief Executive Officer of tesa SE accompanies Federal President Steinmeier to Cambodia and Malaysia
Norderstedt, 17.02.2023 – This week, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is visiting Cambodia and Malaysia. With this trip, the Federal President wants to strengthen bilateral and economic relations with Southeast Asia and provide fresh impetus for mutual economic exchange. Dr. Norman Goldberg, Chief Executive Officer of tesa SE, is accompanying Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as a member of a participating business delegation.
Southeast Asia is an important growth region for tesa. One particular focus isbonding solutions for the automotive industry, the electronics sector and industrial trade. In the construction industry, the solar and wind energy market, and the transportation sector, tesa is also a partner to a large number of international customers based in the region that manufacture products for various industries.
From India to Australia, and from Japan to New Zealand
As one of the world's most important growth markets, Asia is extremely important to tesa. The company differentiates between the Greater China and Asia-Pacific regions. tesa now operates in 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including India, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, and has its headquarters in Singapore. For tesa, proximity to partners and customers and the expansion of local production facilities are important elements in international competition. The Hamburg-based company is planning further expansions and investments in 2023. A new plant is currently being built in Haiphong, Vietnam, which is scheduled for completion in October 2023. The tesa site in Suzhou, China, has been in operation since 2005. From there, tesa supplies products including high-tech tapes for electronic devices, for example to bond displays in cell phones and cars, from a cleanroom unit.
Expanding flexibility and customer proximity through local presence
The new production facility in Vietnam will strengthen tesa's presence in the Asia region. In line with the "Region for the Region" strategy, access to regional markets, shorter and thus more sustainable supply routes to customers, and contact with local raw material suppliers are important factors for tesa. "In many business areas, such as electronics, automotive or distribution, developments in Asia are very dynamic. We want to be close to our customers, work with them locally to develop innovative, more sustainable solutions, and thus drive forward growth areas that are important for us,” says Dr. Norman Goldberg, Chief Executive Officer at tesa SE. "The trip to Cambodia and Malaysia is therefore very exciting. Malaysia, in particular, holds new potential for tesa thanks to its well-developed industrial landscape. This trip will therefore bring new contacts and insights."
